I have updated my listing of Affiliate Merchants
Regretfully, one of the best commercial haunted attractions
in the Greater Vancouver Area, The D S Haunted House
in Abbostsford, will NOT be operating this year due
to many other Haunted Commitments this Season. Hopefully
we will see them back next year!

In a 9 word email to me, without any pleasantries like
a greeting or a closing and with no indication as to
who or what this person's official position is with
the Bridge Studios nor was their any explanation as
to why, I was succinctly informed that "
Sorry there will be no Halloween Haunt this year."
... and that's it folks... sheesh- would a 'hello' and
'thanks for your inquiry' been too much to expect?

I have just sent the Bridge Studios an email inquiring
as to whether or not they plan to run their Haunted
Studio Tour this year. Their web site at http://www.filmhaunt.com
has not been updated in quite some time and the email
posted on that page bounces back "Undeliverable".
so hopefully, with an email sent directly to the studios,
I will hear back from someone soon!

Excellent news from the folks at Brinksworrth Dungeon:
They will be operating out of a new location in Port
Kells, Surrey.. and are planning to open Friday October
17th till the 31st, the price will be $8.00 a head with
a dollar off when donation to the Food Bank is made...
please note that their web site as not been up dated
for the 2008 season yet.
I added a new attraction listing for the Dunbar Haunted
House. I have heard great things about this place and
I defiantly plan on checking it out this year!
Potter's House of Horrors has a wonderful new (spooky)
web site-check it out!
And after reading through it, it looks like this year's
haunt is not one to be missed and could be very well
be the "Must See" attraction of the season!
Kudos to Cam and his team; they have come a long way

Wal-Mart has begun stocking their shelves with Halloween
merchandise. They also have a 'Best Buy'
Spencer Gifts might begin displaying Halloween items
next week.

The Party Bazaar has begun displaying Halloween merchandise.
The 'Big Theme' for them this year is the "Chop
Shop" which is not about stolen car parts but rather
bloody body parts! So heads-up you Horror Butcher Shop
fans :) Also take note that the Party Bazaar's Annual
Halloween Preview will be held on September 27th. Psst-they
are looking for seaonal employees for Halloween ...

We have simplified the Add Listing Form.
I did some scouting around today for Halloween stuff
and found that Michaels, Value Village, and HomeSense
all have Halloween decor out. Michaels has a few cool
things but is very pricey. HomeSense has a great 20
piece Graveyard set for only $50 and has large plaster
gargoyles too! Value Village has more costumes then
decor but has plastic skull wall plaques for only $12.99
- and those will not last long in the stores!

windows and signs were smeared with blood during the
Zombie Walk resulting in the claim of $150 in clean-up
and repair costs. Now, not that I condone such behavior,
but I just need to reiterate that myself, vancoverhalloween.com,
or any of it's affiliates and sponsors are NOT in any
way associated with organizing the Zombie Walk. Our
sole involvement is providing information of the event
due it's masquerade element. We are not responsible
or accountable for any damages in any shape or form
that may be attributed to the participants of the walk.

I visited our friends at the Thomas FX Group located
on the North Shore yesterday, and with a show room stocked
full of Halloween props, FX, Make-up, and Masks, I was
excited as a little kid in a toy store!
Not only is it the largest selection
of Halloween retail items in Vancouver to choose from,
I am told there is more great Halloween inventory arriving
in the weeks to come (delayed shipments due to the Summer
Olympics) including items available exclusively through
Thomas FX so I recommend multiple visits :)
John Quee (CEO) informs me that Halloween
is now part of their regular retail inventory at Thomas
FX and rumor has it that plans for a show room expansion
are complete with the renovations about to begin! I
can't wait-finally year round Halloween in Vancouver!
And for you bargain hunters (and who
doesn't like a good bargain) last year's items are on
sale at incredibly reduced prices! So get down there
soon before someone else scoops up the deals!
For those of you who shopped at Thomas
FX last year, beware that there are items that were
carried last year are no longer being manufactured so
don't think about the past - live in the now and get

Potter's
House of Horrors Scare Team has spent 5 days and a ton
of money at the Haunt Expo Trade Show in Las Vegas this
past May. They purchased several very terrifying exhibits
and spent hours gleaning ideas from some of the most
twisted minds in the scare business.
All I can tell you is they came back
with wide smiles on their faces and won't talk about
it. Large unmarked crates began arriving this week.
Their 2008 House of Horrors promises
to be their best yet by far. And if they don't scare
you half to death this year there is something seriously
wrong with you.
Their Opening day is scheduled for mid
October.

you have confirmed your dates and times so you can maximize
your listing exposure on this site.
We may lose one Greater Vancouver's Best haunts this
year: The D S Haunted House in Abbostford may not run
due to a large fire that burnt down two of their storage
barns last Halloween. Consequently, they have had to
use the barn that the attraction was set up in for storage.
I my opinion, BT & Sylvia did the
most amazing, professional quality work and invested
more money and time into their haunt then any other
I know of.
The good news is that they are looking
for a new venue and will possibly consider a joint venture:
Their inventory, your venue ... otherwise, if they don't
run a haunt this year, it means that all their great
inventory will be available for rent ! Vist
